BWC Proposes Additional Rebate

Last week, Governor Kasich along with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) announced a proposal to return more than $1 billion dollars to Ohio’s private and public employers.

The proposal consists of a one-time rebate of approximately $967 million to private employers and $133 million to public employer taxing districts.  More than 200,000 employers in the state are expected to be eligible to receive a rebate.

If approved, this will be the third time in four years that the BWC has issued a refund to employers.

The proposal must be reviewed and approved by the BWC Board of Directors before becoming effective.  A first review occurred last week on March 15, and the final review and approval will occur at the next BWC board meeting scheduled for April 28, 2017.

We will keep you updated as more details on this rebate are released after this April meeting has taken place.
